A Typical Tile Job

Once all the original flooring is removed and it has been determined that the subflooring is proper for this application, A quality cement backerboard is set using screws and thinset morter. In some installations a product such as DITRA will be used in place of the cement backerboard.
By dry fitting the tile we assure that we are square and the layout is where we want it. We make all the common or straight cuts. This makes the actual tile set go smoother and quicker.
The edges of the cut tile are cleaned with a stone or diamond sponge before the tile is installed. This will take care of any sharp edges.
Decorative borders can make a nice transition from one surface to another.
Stair toekicks can be a great place to display creative tile schemes.
Now with the tile set we pull all the spacers and clean out the grout lines.
The carpeting and padding are cut, stretched and secured using tack strips nailed to the subflooring. This can be done either before or after the grout is installed.
Grout comes in many colors and can help to make a tile pattern come to life.
Once the grout has set all it needs is to be sealed and the job is complete and ready for use.
